13. Third Two Year Batch
[Blog of the Department
of English, Govt. Brennen College of Teacher Education, Thalassery]
Hi,
When I was posted in
GBCTE, in September 2017, the third Two-Year BEd batch had just joined…The old
auditorium was demolished and a new building was being constructed.
Thalassery Municipality was celebrating 150 years of its
existence…
Shortage of space led to change of previously assigned class rooms. The First
Year students were assigned a room in the New Block. There are six students.
During holidays, two of them engages classes for ASAP and another for Plus Two.
We had been on a tour a couple of months ago. They are very active on WhatsApp too.
12. Returned …Another batch leaving
[Blog of the Department of English, Govt. Brennen College of
Teacher Education, Thalassery]
Hello,
The decision of the
Department of Collegiate Education to
abandon the NCTE directive of BEd and MEd functioning as
separate departments, resulted in
shuffling of teachers. I was
teaching Post Graduate students in Thiruvananthapuram but in September 2017,
was transferred to teach BEd students in Govt. Brennen CTE, Thalassery.
Then,
the Second batch of Two-Year BEd
students were undergoing their Practice Teaching. When they returned in
November 2017, they had to take the Third Semester examination. Here is the group with their former teacher,
Ms. Ambili.
In the fourth semester (Nov 2017 to March 2018) they did not
have a single paper on English and so I
never got to know them well… They were not active on WhatsApp too. Last week
they shared a couple of snaps which I am posting now.

10.College Election
[Blog of the Department of English, Govt. Brennen College of
Teacher Education, Thalassery]
The election to the
College Union was held on 30
March 2015, a day prior to commencement
of vacation.
The English Optional trainees contested for five posts.
A total of 115 votes were cast.
*Ms.Navya as Vice Chairman
secured 45
votes.
*Ms.Lisina as General Secretary secured
52 votes.
*Ms Jyothi as Joint Secretary secured
42
votes
*Ms. Hitha as General Captain secured 28
votes
*Ms.Sinju as Magazine Editor secured
30 votes
The English Optional could win only one seat. Ms Lisina was declared elected as General
Secretary.
Unlike in previous
years when contestants from the
English Optional fail to get
elected to the College Union, this year they managed to
secure a good number of votes
and secure the key seat of General Secretary
solely because of their participation
in the Youth Empowerment Programme held on weekends, the Talents Day competition and the
Kannur University Arts Festival which earned them many fans in the college.
Congratulations to Ms. Lisina

I have loved flowers that fade
I have loved flowers that fade,Within whose magic tents
Rich hues have marriage made
With sweet unmemoried scents:
A honeymoon delight,
A joy of love at sight,
That ages in an hour
My song be like a flower!.
I have loved airs that die
Before their charm is writ
Along a liquid sky
Trembling to welcome it.
Notes, that with pulse of fire
Proclaim the spirit's desire,
Then die, and are nowhere
My song be like an air!.
Die, song, die like a breath,
And wither as a bloom;
Fear not a flowery death,
Dread not an airy tomb!
Fly with delight, fly hence!
'Twas thine love's tender sense
To feast; now on thy bier
Beauty shall shed a tear.-Robert Bridges
